Members of the American Society of Home Inspectors
Our firm has been providing home inspections to Binghamton and the Southern Tier since 1988. Our primary inspectors, Keith Oberg and Gregg Harwood each have over 25 years experience in the construction industry. In the seventies and eighties they built a large, top quality construction company which specialized in additions and remodeling of existing homes. During this time they saw the need for independent inspectors who could help home buyers evaluate the condition of homes prior to purchase. Keith and Gregg have since performed thousands of thorough professional home inspections.
As members of the American Society of Home Inspectors ( ASHI ) Keith and Gregg continue to demonstrate their professionalism and competency. ASHI is the leading professional organization of home inspectors in the United States and Canada. In order to become a member an inspector must complete at least 250 fee paid inspections, pass a rigorous entrance examination series, and have reports reviewed by the organization to see that they meet the Standards of Practice. A strict program of continuing education credits are required to maintain membership. ASHI defined what a home inspection is over 20 years ago with the publication of the Standards of Practice and issuance of the ASHI Code of Ethics. Keith and Gregg are active in both the Central New York ASHI chapter and in the national organization.
Besides being ASHI Members, Keith is a past president of the Southern Tier Home Builders and Remodelers Association and remains active on their committees, and Gregg is an EPA listed radon mitigation contractor and has worked under contract for the New York State Department of Health as a radon assessment specialist.
Joe Alapeck is our firm's radon systems installer. Bonnie Kinner and Gail Gunsalus run the office and maintain the scheduling. Our office is manned from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. for quick response to your needs.

Ethical standards, inspection procedures and report standards meet the guidelines established by the American Society of Home Inspectors.
To avoid any perceived conflict of interest we do not do any repair work arising from a real estate inspection.
